Christ the King Catholic Elementary/Junior High School is currently serving students from Grades 1-9.
Christ the King Catholic Elementary/Junior High School (CTK) is dealing with exceptional enrolment growth. The current number of students is greater than what the school was built for. We have implemented temporary measures to stabilize the learning environments that have been put under tremendous pressure due to unprecedented, rapidly increasing enrolment.
As of September 2024, Christ the King is serving students from Grades 1-9.
Kindergarten at Anne Fitzgerald Catholic Elementary School
Kindergarten students from the CTK attendance area are redirected to Anne Fitzgerald Catholic Elementary School (699 Clareview Road NW), which will offer Half-Day Kindergarten programming.
These students will be transported by yellow school bus during their Kindergarten year. CTK Kindergarten students attending Anne Fitzgerald will return to Christ the King for Grade 1 so that they can complete their Elementary and Junior High experience in their neighbourhood school.
If a redirected student decides to stay at Anne Fitzgerald beyond the Kindergarten school year, transportation will not be provided.
This decision was challenging and complex. We reviewed the feedback we received from families in the 2023-2024 school year to identify a temporary solution that would best support our students and ensure that we are offering the best possible educational experience for them.

New Catholic K-9 School in Crystallina Nera East
The temporary measures are designed to bridge the time as we await the construction of the new school in Crystallina Nera East.

Space for Students Engagement
Prior to implementing temporary changes, Edmonton Catholic Schools held an in-person engagement session on November 8, 2023, with the families of Christ the King Catholic Elementary/Junior High School to share potential options to address enrolment pressures at the school.

Following the in-person session, a survey requesting feedback was open for responses for two weeks, from November 8, 2023, until the end of the day on November 24, 2023.
