Prayer for Fallen EPS Officers
Edmonton Catholic Schools shares in the grief of the Edmonton Police Service as they mourn the loss of their two fallen members who were killed earlier this morning. To honour the service and dedication of Const. Travis Jordan and Const. Brett Ryan, the flags at our schools and sites will be lowered to half-mast.
Please join us in prayer as we extend our condolences to the families and friends of the officers, the entire Edmonton Police Service, and the extended community of first responders.
Loving Father, you sent your Son into the world to redeem us by his Cross and Resurrection. Send your Spirit upon us in our schools and sites, and in our community to mend the wounds of anger and sorrow as we learn of the horrific death of two Edmonton Police Service officers who were killed while responding to a call early this morning.
In our shock and confusion, we come before you. In our despair in the midst of hate, in our sense of helplessness in the face of violence, we lean on you. We ask for peace in our minds, bodies, souls, and spirits. Give us courage and strength and help us to heal the moments of stress and grief in our lives.
We pray for the victims of this tragic shooting, especially for the two police officers, Constable Jordan and Constable Ryan, who were killed in the line of duty, for their families and friends, for their colleagues, and for all first responders.
Isaiah 55:8 reminds us that our thoughts are not your thoughts – and that our ways are not your ways. When we are struggling to see clearly, remind us that we are not alone. Bring to fulfillment all that you have given us and give us the wisdom to hear your voice, and the firm footsteps to follow your path. Come live in our hearts and console us by your love and compassion.
In solidarity with the Edmonton Police Service, and through the intercession of our Most Blessed Mother, Mary, the Mother of God, we ask you to guide and protect us.
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen.
Eternal rest grant unto Constables Jordan and Ryan, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
May almighty God bless us with his peace and consolation, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
