Similar to our current curriculum, the new English Language Arts & Literature curriculum is composed of six interrelated language arts; reading and writing, listening and speaking, and viewing and representing. We will continue to ensure our planning for English Language Arts is grounded in the comprehensive literacy framework.
The new curriculum is structured by nine organizing ideas including the inclusion of explicit phonological awareness and phonics instruction.
